It was the cheapest one and it was used also by families for events. Super 8 was much easier to use than the regular 8mm and provided a better quality and an automatic exposure system. Amateur filmmaking rose due to the low cost and improved performance of Super 8. Though it's nearly fifty years old, Super 8 is having a comeback now due to its special qualities.
