
Using a few simple steps, you can successfully scan your documents and photos. Don't forget to refer to the scanner's manual as well. Prepare the scanner and the collection by cleaning them. Select the appropriate scanner settings by checking the PPI or DPI, resolution and color tones.
For 4"×6" and 5"X7", 300dpi/ppi is fine. Scan at 400 or 600 dpi for larger ones. Scan slides at around 1900 dpi. Save the image according to the color scheme. Then give descriptive names and organize them nicely.
Create backup copies and store them in various locations. Update the storage medium every five years.
