Looking for an enjoyable way to spend a late summer weekend? Head to the south Bay Area on August 25th and 26th and experience the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts; located on University Avenue in downtown Palo Alto. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of this fine arts and crafts festival, and over 300 top artists from around the country will be showing their work.
The festival features a variety of art mediums including ceramics, oils, acrylics, leather, metals, photography and more. One of the highlights for event goers is the Italian Street Painting Expo. Over 60 artists use chalk as their medium for creating lifelike and 3D images right on Tasso Street, with sponsorship funds directly benefiting Palo Alto Youth Community Service.

The Palo Alto Festival of the Arts is a family friendly event with offerings designated especially for children. Kids under the age of 12 can give chalk art a try or express their creative side at the Kids’ Art Studio area, operating between the hours of 10am and 5pm.
The various gourmet food trucks and vendors on hand at this year’s event are sure to satisfy every individual taste. Once you’ve filled up on a tasty meal, give into your sweet tooth cravings and have a cupcake, frozen yogurt or cookie. In addition, visit the wine booth and try a glass from a local winery or have an ice cold beer at the beer booth.
Throughout the weekend guests will be entertained by musical selections on two stages including rock, Celtic, hip-hop, blues and more. The enticing sounds of a street-corner musician playing the harp and a costumed accordionist also float on the air.
